 Mosteiro Dos Jerónimos and National Archaeology Museum in Belem Lisbon, Portugal

Jerónimos Monastery is the most important monument in Lisbon and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the best example of Manueline architecture which is Portuguese late Gothic unique style. It is characterised by an elaborate use of sculptural detail and often includes sea motifs.

  2. Did you get to go inside? I never made it because I had my purse pick pocketed the day I was going there and spent most of it with the police, but I expect I’ll go back one day.

    • oh! sorry to hear the misfortune of experiencing being pick-pocketed in Lisbon! Thanks Jo, a great reminder to every reader and myself that mind our belongings while travelling.
      Yeah, as you can see the long queue in the picture, it took me a hour to get in. Beautiful architecture, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s worth a visit! 😉
